For a long time I was looking for a volunteer position that would give me the opportunity to contribute in a useful and meaningful way. It is important to me to support projects that have a sustainable impact locally. This is the case at Okulaba e.V. — we create help for self-help.

I was immediately hooked when Frank and Sophie told me about Okulaba. Education is the common thread that runs through my life. Being able to learn what interests me is my greatest gift. That is why I want to help give this gift to others, so that it makes them strong for their lives and their future.

I am convinced that access to education is a fundamental human right, and that everyone, regardless of where they were born, should have the right to education. In developing countries in particular, many children and young people face considerable challenges when it comes to access to quality education.

Giving something back in life and helping is important to me. At Okulaba I have the opportunity to take part in valuable and truly supportive projects. Every child should have access to education and learning. Unfortunately the reality is different. I am very grateful for the coincidence that I was born here in Germany and therefore had everything I needed to become who I am today. This is exactly why I would like to give something back.
